Welcome to Ray Massey's America!

Through this site, I am exploring what America is about now, her people, places, history, and more. Tocqueville wrote about who we were in the 19th Century; I want to know who we are in the 21st Century, and I want you to come along for the ride. This site won’t be your typical dry and boring history lesson. It may be a little raucous and FUN!

This site is about America, her states and her people; it is a record of my travels throughout the country, so it is continuously growing. You’ll find articles, information, photos, and videos- but that's not all! This site includes:

People and Places: places I've visited and groups of people I've met along the way, along with historical figures and the places they've left behind
Local Flavor: lists of some of the great people I have met, good places to eat and to stay, a clean laundromat, churches, and other interesting local items that may be helpful in your travels
Travel Tips: tips and tricks for living in a small travel trailer, practical information on how I modified my Sunline travel trailer and Ford Ranger tow vehicle for my adventures, tips for how to live on the road and meet interesting people, and more
About Ray: just a little bit about me and my vision for this site
Interesting Links: links to other sites I've found that have been interesting or helpful to me
Items for Sale: If you like the site, make some of it your own! Cool stuff to show and tell, more than you see here...

While we will visit some places that are touristy and that a lot of people have seen, I hope to give you a new perspective on them. I hope you’ll also enjoy coming with me to small, out-of-the-way towns that have had an impact on history, but that you don’t hear much about. Through articles, photos, and videos, I hope to provide a perspective that you don’t get anywhere else.

Below are links to pages where you can find some of my other writings, pictures, and videos. I have a keen interest in politics, history, and economics, but this site is not really about any of those things (though they are included).
